Dr Louis George Baeseman is an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Chicago in the section of nephrology. His clinical interests are focused on the transition time for patients starting dialysis, in particular for patients with little experience with kidney issues. In conjunction with the home dialysis program, he is advocating for improved access to home dialysis modalities through an innovative program partnered with DaVita called the “Transitional Care Dialysis Unit”. This program is also the focus of Dr Baeseman’s research into factors affecting home dialysis uptake amongst those who start dialysis urgently, assessing how to improve access to home dialysis, and ultimately transplantation. Additionally this program is growing to include patients on dialysis after severe illness to assess for ways to potentially improve recovery for those with dialysis needs after acute kidney injury . Beyond his clinical and research interests, Dr Baeseman has a keen interest in medical education for medical residents and fellows.

PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication. Some publications (especially newer ones and publications not in PubMed) might not yet be assigned Field or Translation tags.) Click a Field or Translation tag to filter the publications.
