AndreaPiuntiAndrea Piunti41.7886000000000087.598699999999994084Piunti, AndreaChromatinBrain CancerEpigeneticsRare DiseasesMolecular Targeted TherapyAndrea Piunti studies chromatin biology and how its deregulation contributes to cancer onset and progression. His lab focuses on the Polycomb group (PcGs) of proteins, which are major chromatin regulators. PcG proteins are master regulators of mammalian development and cellular proliferation. They mainly exert their function through transcriptional repression achieved through their activity on chromatin. Several PcG proteins and their activities are deregulated in cancer, and they play particularly important roles in the oncogenic processes underlying rare pediatric brain tumors such as diffuse midline gliomas (DMG) and posterior fossa group A (PFA) ependymomas. Piunti works to understand how deregulation of PcG proteins in these tumors contributes to the insurgence and spreading of these and other rare malignancies.Assistant Professorplugins:FeaturedVideosFeatured Videosplugins:TwitterTwitterprns:awardConferredByaward conferred byprns:coAuthorOfcoauthor ofprns:emailEncryptedemail addressprns:endDateend dateFaculty Rankprns:fullNamefull nameprns:grantAwardedBygrant awarded byprns:hasAuthorListauthor listprns:hasFacultyRankhas faculty rankprns:hasNetworkhas networkprns:hasPublicationVenuepublished inprns:informationResourceReferenceinformation resource referenceprns:isPrimaryPositionis primary positionprns:latitudelatitudeprns:longitudelongitudeprns:mainImagephotoprns:maxWeightmaximum weightprns:medlineTAjournal title abbreviationprns:meshDescriptorUIMeSH DescriptorUIprns:meshSemanticGroupNameMeSH semantic group nameprns:minWeightminimum weightprns:numberOfAuthorsnumber of authorsprns:numberOfConnectionsnumber of connectionsprns:numberOfPublicationsnumber of publicationsprns:personIdPerson IDprns:personInPrimaryPositionperson in primary positionprns:physicalNeighborOfphysical neighborprns:pluginSearchableDataProfilesRNS Plugin Searchable Dataprns:positionInDepartmentposition in departmentprns:predicateNodepredicate nodeprns:principalInvestigatorNameprincipal investigator nameprns:publicationDatepublication dateprns:similarTosimilar toprns:sortOrdersort orderprns:startDatestart dateprns:trainingAtOrganizationeducational organizationprns:trainingLocationtraining locationprns:uniquenessWeightuniqueness weightprns:yearyearAcademic ArticleArticleDocumentbibo:pmidPubMed IdentifierAddressvivo:addressCitycityvivo:addressPostalCodepostal codevivo:addressStatestate or provinceAgreementvivo:authorInAuthorshipselected publicationsvivo:authorRankauthor rank in publicationAuthorshipvivo:awardOrHonorawards and honorsAward or Honor Receiptvivo:degreeEarneddegree earnedDepartmentvivo:educationalTrainingeducation and trainingEducational Trainingvivo:freetextKeywordkeywordsGrantvivo:hasResearchArearesearch areasvivo:hasResearcherRoleresearch activitiesvivo:hrJobTitleHR job titleInformation Resourcevivo:linkAnchorTextlink anchor textvivo:linkedAuthorlinked authorvivo:linkedInformationResourcelinked information resourcevivo:mailingAddressmailing addressvivo:majorFieldmajor field of degreevivo:orcidIdORCID idvivo:overviewoverviewvivo:personInPositionpositionsPositionvivo:positionInOrganizationposition in organizationvivo:preferredTitlepreferred titleResearcher Rolevivo:researcherRoleOfresearcher role ofRolevivo:roleContributesTocontributes tovivo:sponsorAwardIdsponsor award idURLLinkvivo:webpagewebpagerdf:predicatepredicaterdf:typetyperdfs:labellabelConceptAgentfoaf:firstNamefirst namefoaf:lastNamelast nameOrganizationPersonMolecular Genetics and Cell BiologyRadiation and Cellular OncologyD005910Disorders982850.81664GliomaD006657Chemicals & Drugs1523090.838824HistonesMarkApplebaum1nJ5B6QXGPnUnFpxY07n8GT98IW47aA=Mark Applebaum0.000000000000000.000000000000003002Applebaum, MarkAssociate ProfessorPediatrics-Hematology and OncologyChicago60637IL2.447420.0214799113research areas0.4805050.06146493coauthor of30.47893.8632160similar to1118selected publicationsAuthorship 1491394Authorship 1491651Authorship 1491725Authorship 1491261Authorship 1491911Authorship 1492151Authorship 14924314Authorship 1492564Authorship 1493011Authorship 149310328263307Piunti A, Hashizume R, Morgan MA, Bartom ET, Horbinski CM, Marshall SA, Rendleman EJ, Ma Q, Takahashi YH, Woodfin AR, Misharin AV, Abshiru NA, Lulla RR, Saratsis AM, Kelleher NL, James CD, Shilatifard ANature medicineTherapeutic targeting of polycomb and BET bromodomain proteins in diffuse intrinsic pontine gliomas.
