Margaret (Maggie) Mueller, MD is an internationally recognized urogynecologist and reconstructive pelvic surgeon. Her expertise in minimally invasive and robotic gynecologic techniques allows her to offer a wider range of treatment options so that each patient’s care is personal and customized to their specific needs and goals. Along with her team, she pioneered the Single Port Robotic Surgery program, providing patients with accelerated recovery. Dr. Mueller cares for patients with pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, fecal incontinence, complex urogenital fistulas, mesh complications tailoring each treatment plan to meet the goals of her patients. Additionally, Dr. Mueller has niche surgical expertise in the management of congenital genitourinary anomalies in adolescents and young women. Recognizing the need for high quality care in this patient population, she received special ABOG Focus of Practice designation in Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology and founded a multidisciplinary program dedicated to caring for adolescents and young women with congenital anomalies, such as Meyer Rokitansy Kuster Hasuser Syndrome.
Along with her commitment to her clinical practice, Dr. Mueller is dedicated to advancing the field of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery through high quality research. She is an avid NIH-funded investigator leading multicenter cutting-edge research to better the care women with pelvic floor disorders receive. Her investigation focuses around surgical outcomes, education and advocacy and been published in numerous well respected, scientific journals, including Obstetrics and Gynecology, American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Urogynecology, Journal of Urology, International Urogynecology Journal and Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology.
She is also passionate about surgical education. Well decorated in both undergraduate and graduate medical education, she has served as the Program Director for Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship and Module Leader for Reproductive Science. Nationally, she has partnered with organizations including ACGME, AUGS, ABOG in developing curricula, redesigning milestones, and participating in the certification pathway to influence the education of the next generation of urogynecologic surgeons. She currently directs the national Robotic Surgery course for urogynecology fellows, and has taught many national and international courses in surgical techniques and the identification and management of lower urinary tract injury.
