PropertyValue
overview John Blair, MD, FACC, is a cardiologist who specializes in the care of complex coronary artery disease, mitral and aortic valve disease and congestive heart failure. Dr. Blair performs a wide range of procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of coronary artery disease, including radial artery catheterization, balloon angioplasty, coronary stent placement, rotational orbital and excimer laser atherectomy, and treatment of chronic total occlusions (CTOs). Dr. Blair is also a member of the structural heart team, and treats mitral and aortic valve disease. He is one of the primary operators for the transcatheter mitral valve repair (MitraClip) procedures, and has extensive experience in transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). He is one of few cardiologists who perform coronary physiology studies, which aid in diagnosing coronary microvascular dysfunction in a range of challenging clinical scenarios. His research interests focus on coronary microvascular dysfunction in patients with various cardiovascular conditions, including heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) and CTOs. Prior to joining the University of Chicago Medicine, Dr. Blair was a Major in the United States Air Force Medical Corps, where he served as staff cardiologist at the San Antonio Military Medical Center and Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas.
