overview Dr. Kellar completed her MD at the University of Calgary, receiving the Nat Christie Medical Entrance Scholarship, appointed to the Leaders in Medicine program for physicians pursuing academic medicine. She completed her Pediatric residency at the Hospital for Sick Children and her Pediatric Gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Calgary. She went on to complete an advanced fellowship in adult IBD and an additional year of advanced IBD fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital in NY with specialized training in intestinal ultrasound. Dr. Kellar has made several significant contributions to the field of IBD research. Among her accomplishments are her 1st author publication of the first ever guideline outlining the use of intestinal ultrasound for the Pediatric Gastroenterologists. She is also 1st author on the first pediatric activity ultrasound score (SPAUSS) for accurate detection of pediatric inflammatory bowel disease. Her research was highlighted at Advances in IBD, the European Crohn’s and Colitis Organization (ECCO) Congress, as well as Digestive Disease Week (DDW). She received the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology (CAG) Resident Research Award and the Alberta Medical Association (AMA) Pediatric Section Grant for her research endeavours. Dr. Kellar is one of few certified intestinal ultrasonographers and trainers with the International Bowel Ultrasound Group (IBUS) and was appointed to the Pediatric Committee for IBUS. She is the Co-Chair of Research for iUSCAN (the North American subdivision of IBUS). She is the Director of the Pediatric IUS program and Associate Director of the Pediatric IBD Program and is cross-appointed to both Pediatric and Adult Gastroenterology at the University of Chicago. Her research interests include intestinal ultrasound, novel and dual advanced therapies and clinical trials.
