I am an endocrinologist/ diabetologist with a particular interest in technology driven solutions to complex management issues in diabetes. I am a past president of the American Diabetes Association (2019) and a Laureate of the Lincoln Academy of Illinois (https://lincolnacademyillinois.org/). My clinic focuses on type 1, type 2 diabetes, all forms of monogenic diabetes, transplant-related diabetes, cystic fibrosis-related diabetes, complications of diabetes and associated rare and atypical forms of diabetes and hypoglycemia. We incorporate all aspects of diabetes technology including insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors locally and for use in telemedicine applications. Our diabetes team includes nurses, registered dietician-diabetes educators, pharmacists, podiatrists and a "Health and Wellness" team embedded in the clinic supported by the Department of Psychiatry. One of the most exciting translational research areas is our diabetes genetics clinic associated with multiple research studies. We are the leading group in the United States for monogenic diabetes, helping to diagnose and manage patients with all forms of neonatal and MODY-type diabetes.
