Dr. Amin is an emergency medicine physician dedicated to serving some of the United States’ most diverse and underserved patient populations. She completed her Emergency Medicine residency at Los Angeles County/University of Southern California and received her Masters in Science in Healthcare Quality and Safety from Northwestern University. She is a recognized local and national expert in quality improvement and patient safety, with a particular focus on the critical role of safe, effective, and patient-centered communication in clinical care. As an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Section of Emergency Medicine at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, she balances her clinical work with a deep commitment to medical justice, health equity, and medical education. She is the associate medical director and director of quality improvement and patient safety for the Emergency Department at the University of Chicago Medical Center. Her research interests are improving diagnostic excellence and reducing medical jargon use in emergency medicine. She speaks locally and nationally on the role of equitable communication within healthcare and for the communities we serve. Her work is rooted in advocacy and driven by the belief that equitable care begins with how we listen, speak, and engage with every patient.
