Molly Hales, MD, PhD, is a dermatologist who provides comprehensive care for patients with a wide range of skin conditions. She has a special interest in hidradenitis suppurativa and other chronic inflammatory skin disorders, including atopic dermatitis, eczema and psoriasis. Additionally, Dr. Hales cares for patients with acne, pigmentary conditions such as vitiligo, and performs skin exams to detect and treat skin cancer or other concerning lesions. She also provides dermatologic care for LGBTQ+ and other sexual and gender minority communities.

Known for her warm, patient-centered approach to care, Dr. Hales takes the time to listen closely to each patient, answering questions in clear, easy-to-understand language, and working side by side with them to create a care plan that feels right for them. She understands how much skin conditions can affect daily life and emotional well-being, and she is dedicated to helping her patients feel comfortable in their own skin. Her goal is to ease worries, improve quality of life and give every patient confidence in both their treatment and themselves.

Along with her clinical practice, Dr. Hales performs qualitative and mixed-methods research that explores how people experience skin health and access to care. Her recent projects have examined youth skin care routines on TikTok, shedding light on how social media shapes perceptions and practices, and investigated barriers to medical care for patients living with severe obesity. Her current work is focused on decreasing the delay in diagnosis of hidradenitis suppurativa, with the goal of improving early detection and outcomes for patients with this often-misunderstood condition.

PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication.
