    Dr. Madan Kumar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Section of Infectious Diseases. He currently serves as the Director for the pediatric antimicrobial stewardship service. This collaborative, interdisciplinary service targets improving drug selection, slowing the emergence of antimicrobial resistance, reducing antibiotic expenditures, and improving patient outcomes at UChicago Medicine’s Comer Children’s Hospital.
    Dr. Kumar’s primary clinical and academic interests focus on acute and chronic infections in immunocompromised hosts including opportunistic fungal infections. Additionally, he is dedicated to medical education and serves as the Associate Fellowship Director for the Pediatric Infectious Diseases training program.
    Dr. Kumar completed his medical training at Touro College of Medicine in New York City, pediatric residency at Pennsylvania State University, and infectious diseases fellowship at Children’s National Medical Center.
