Dr. Arash Rafiq is a board-certified internal medicine physician and hospitalist who is dedicated to delivering compassionate, personalized, and evidence-based care. His approach is centered on communication and partnership, ensuring every patient feels heard, supported, and empowered to ask questions and participate in decisions about their health.
Dr. Rafiq completed his Internal Medicine residency at Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago, where he also served as Chief Resident. He later earned his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, strengthening his ability to improve care delivery, patient experience, and healthcare system performance.
Throughout his career, Dr. Rafiq has provided care across multiple hospital systems and has held leadership roles overseeing large, multi-state hospital medicine programs. His experience includes leading clinical operations, developing high-performing physician teams, and improving care coordination and hospital efficiency. Dr. Rafiq brings this broad expertise directly to the bedside focusing on safe, thoughtful, and patient-centered care. As a hospitalist, Dr. Rafiq treats a wide range of conditions including pneumonia, heart failure, COPD and asthma exacerbations, kidney disease, sepsis, gastrointestinal illnesses, diabetic complications, and postoperative recovery.
Dr. Rafiq is committed to clear explanations, shared decision-making, and ensuring that patients and families always understand the plan of care. He was honored with the ACP Illinois Early Career Physician Award in 2024 for his contributions to patient care and physician leadership. He believes that great medicine begins with trust and he strives to create a supportive environment where every patient feels respected, informed, and confident in their care plan. Dr. Rafiq is the Assistant Medical Director for Ingalls Hospital Medicine where he practices Hospital Medicine. He also serves as a Physician Advisor for University of Chicago Utilization Management. Dr. Rafiq speaks English, Urdu, Punjabi, and Farsi fluently.
