    Investigating the regulation of distinct human adipocyte subpopulations
    Role Description: In order to better understand the composition of human white adipose tissue, we performed single nucleus RNA sequencing, which allowed us to collect information about individual cell types within this complex tissue. We found several distinct types of adipocytes, some of which are associated with body weight and risk of type 2 diabetes (T2D). Here we will identify which factors predispose to the development of one adipocyte type over another, with the goal of finding targets for treatments that can ameliorate metabolic diseases like T2D.
